Incomprehensibly Fabulous

Sensible pumps and pinched feet
Skirt? Dress pants? What to wear?
Changing schedules, shifts in plan,
Drafting letters in my head and losing them
Before they make it to paper.

Math assessments and teaching about money
"No, you have to start with the biggest coin first."
Overdues
Lost books
Fines, fees,
Broken hearts, tears
"Why won't she be my friend?"

An increasingly Byronic young son
The other by turns jolly and morose
A new bass voice
Headaches
And we're out of waffles again.

Looking for God in all places
And finding Him, surprising, always there
Trying to live up to it
Grace amidst garrulous children
Faith amidst folly
Strength for one step, and then another

"Shalom!" And
A little girl holding my hand because,
"I see you every morning when I come to school!"
And singing and smiling and worrying
And always work and love,
Love and work
But the greatest of these is
Love
