I don't think I ever got to show this off as a WIP, but after having tried on Miriam's "dragon mitts", Isabella also wanted a pair! Of course I agreed to knit them for her... and when she texted me last week to hear if I could add thumbs I couldn't let her down but had to figure out how to do that as well! :) Wasn't too hard, fortunately. I had to rip back once as I'd added too many short rows, but after that it worked fine :) I just need to weave in ends and block it, and then it's ready to hand over to her next week.

I've also started a new poncho for another niece. Rosa tried on the one I'd made for Nora and wanted one of her own, so of course I had to get working on that. The pattern doesn't come in large enough sizes, so I'll be adjusting as I go - hoping to end up with something that at least somewhat fits her.

Despite the fact that I still have 12 semi-active WIPs on the needles, I really wanted to cast on something new, so decided I was entitled to a "Birthday Cast On" (in the spirit of the PrairieGirls' Mother's Day Cast On) and cast on the Chromatic pullover by tincanknits! While I did swatch, I didn't actually block it, so we'll see if that comes back to bite me :-P but for the time being, I'm really enjoying the knitting. I worked on pretty much nothing else all weekend, which means I've just separated for the sleeves and am making my way down the body. The lace is really easy to memorize, and I love seeing the colours change!

#61 The Hitman's Bodyguard, Sep 13th
I'm not giving this a rating, as I did actually only see the first 75% - after that the screen went black and the cinema had to cancel the showing!!! I did see enough to know that I really liked it though, and I definitely want to see the last 20-30 minutes at some point :-D

#62 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets*, Sep 14th, 3.5/5
A rewatch with my oldest niece.

#63 Cowboys vs. Aliens, Sep 16th, 3/5
A LOT better than I had expected. Sure, it was most definitely a B-movie, but I didn't think it nearly as bad as everybody had warned me. Low expectations aren't always a bad thing ;-)

#64 The Secret Life of Pets, Sep 16th, 3.5/5
As expected most of the best parts of the movie had been shown in the trailer. Still, it was a fun watch and I enjoyed it.

#65 American Hustle, Sep 16th, 2.5/5
I have no idea what I'd expected here, but definitely NOT this. I won't call it boring exactly, but very slow-moving, and I never fully felt like I understood what the director was trying to do. I don't regret having spent time on it, but I doubt I'll ever watch it again.

#66 The A-Team*, Sep 18th, 4/5
Rewatch.

#67 Hotel Transylvania*, Sep 30th, 4/5
Rewatch.

#68 Arrival, Oct 2nd, 4/5
Not at all what I had expected, but I actually really liked it. Unfortunately it is only too realistic that people would react that way to the sudden appearance of aliens.

#69 Kingsman: The Secret Service, Oct 6th, 4.5/5
I really shouldn't like this movie as much as I do - it's a lot more gory than my usual fare - but it's just so well made!

#70 Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Oct 8th, 4/5
Almost as good as the first one. I really enjoyed it (even if I did have to avert my eyes once or twice), and laughed out loud on several occasions. I was really happy to see Harry back, but sad to see Roxy and various others die :-( Still, I'm very keen on seeing the third movie if and when it happens.

... But it was hugely distracting that for most of the movie Ginger Ale looked SO much like a character in one of my most hated commercials :-/ Once it's been seen it cannot be unseen!
