I have been so thankful for the last two weekends. With the Days of Unleavened Bread and the Holy Days, Chris has been home more. And it turns out, More Chris = Happier Katherine. I've been thinking about how much information is exchanged in times when you're just together with someone else and topics naturally arise as you think of them. For example, we were talking to one of the ladies at church and she was mentioning how much she misses out on, not because people aren't telling her things, but because she cannot be with everyone before and after services as she would like to do. "Chit-chat" is so important, whether it's at church or work or home...and even when it seems like such pointless conversation. There is something about hearing the little things of someone else's life.

This made me think about how hard it is to feel connected to Chris, even though we talk on the telephone every single day. It's hard to corral all the things we need to discuss and condense several hours of chit-chat into 15 minutes or 30 minutes. And then when I do manage to do that, it feels like a business conversation.

And this made me think about something else: God promises that in His Kingdom, we will be His people and He will dwell with us. And yes, Christ lives inside His believers now, but I do believe that there will be more. Think about the difference between Adam and Eve talking with God as He walked in the garden, and us talking to Him now, wrestling with prayer and with words, not sure what to say or how to ask. And even with the Spirit interceding, there is some connection that is not yet there. We grow more connected, but it is not the same. Just as I enjoyed talking with Chris on the phone before we were married, but was so happy to be able to have him there all the time once we were. To paraphrase what Paul said, we will know as we are known.
