8. give me jewelry (okay, I hate to admit this one because it's so materialistic. But I'm a total sentimental fool, and I love wearing little symbols of love and friendship--even if they're a cheap little trinket--because it reminds of me of dear people. It honestly isn't the value--it's the little surprise of seeing something reflected in the mirror and thinking, "Oh, yes, this is from my friend..." or "These are my anniversary earrings.")

I agree, but I avoid expensive jewelry because I worry it will be lost. In fact, a $135 ring Robert bought me just disappeared recently. I am hoping it is misplaced because if it isn't then the only place it could have gone is the bug man's pocket. :(

I know what you mean by #8. I have things in our home that mean something special because they belonged to someone else or were gifts. I remember Aunt Margaret when I see her tiny buffet; I remember Uncle Harold when I use his weeder; I lovingly think of my son when I polish the small wall cabinet he made me; I recall Aunt Eileen when I put out her Santa bell at Christmas.
