I think it a shame that there seems to be a view that love is something that you always feel, a sort of rainbows and unicorns and happiness that must exist at all times. Because the times when I have felt most loved have been when someone did something that they didn't feel like doing or weren't naturally inclined to do, but did it anyway with a cheerful smile because they loved me.
I really do think that love is most fully expressed in the moments when we aren't feeling sunshine and happiness and sparkles, but we refuse to play the martyr and we simply do what needs doing because we choose to put that person's needs above our own feelings of the moment.
