Hallway Hugs
Aug. 19th, 2010 07:04 amI got my first "Hallway Hugs" of the year yesterday. I don't really understand what motivates the kids to park themselves in front of me and give me a big hug, but somehow it does change one's whole outlook on the day. No matter what else, I was someone that made a child feel safe and happy. That's a pretty amazing thing.
Had a good conversation with the kids last night, too, about image and societal pressure. They're pretty with-it sometimes, though who knows how much of what they say is personal conviction and how much is because they know what I want to hear.
In other news, I think people must be coming in and secretly wearing my clothes. That is the only explanation for the size of the laundry tower.
