Father's Day
Jun. 21st, 2010 06:58 amHad a lovely day yesterday, albeit a hot one: it was so hot and sticky that even just sitting perfectly still, perspiration would roll down my face. We had a picnic with Chris's parents and his sister and her family at Spring Mill State Park, and then we walked around the Pioneer Village within the park. Afterwards, we got to go into Twin Caves, which is neat because you tour by boat. It's not an exciting cave, particularly, but the boat tour was neat and it was so wonderfully cool and refreshing...we never wanted to come back out!
We tried to go on a little hike, but everyone was tired and hot, so we went to the Park's Grissom Memorial building instead and looked at the exhibits about Virgil Grissom's life. I was interested to discover that he was only one inch taller than the Oldest Boy is...the Oldest Boy could've worn his space suit!
The kids went on to spend the night with their grandparents, and today they're all supposed to be going to Holiday World. So Chris and I even got to have a date at the end of Father's Day! We went to a little Mexican restaurant and then on to our property, where we proceeded to get the car stuck in the entrance to our land because it was so marshy--we've never had that problem before, but it was good and stuck. Some neighbors offered their help and were able to tow us out.
Today, a busy day and I think lunch with The Man, which I'm looking forward to. And you?
