Amidst The Sounds of Raining Shards of Tile
Our friend is, right now, demolishing our bathroom interior. I can hear tiles coming down, wallboard coming out, and various banging and pounding. This is the part of house remodeling that I just hate--the sound of things being broken makes my stomach turn, even if I know it's for the better.
As I grow older, I learn more and more just how little I like change. I think that often the reason I want to hold onto moments is the keen awareness that they will change--the kids will change and grow, the feelings will change, and nothing will be as it is right now this minute.
